Penney: We Could Have Won
By Nick Raynor
December 30 2004
Doncaster manager Dave Penney believes his side could have got something out of the game against Hull.
Rovers had many
chances against their local rivals but were made to rue missed chances when
Stuart Elliot cruelly got a winner for The Tigers 4 minutes from time.
Then, 5 minutes
from time, Stuart
Elliot ran from deep and scored past
Penney said:
"I thought we were excellent in every area and you can't legislate
for things like the winning goal.”
"We've matched them in every department and it's obviously disappointing
to lose to a silly goal like that.”
"I thought it was a great advertisement for this league with 24,000 here
with a great atmosphere, and I'm sure it was a good game to watch.”
"I think if we were more clinical and finished better we would have got
something out of it. Even when we went 2-1 down we still had two or three good
chances in injury time."
