Penney - We can do better

Rovers boss Dave Penney expressed his pleasure of his sides gritty 2-0 victory in blustery conditions at earth stadium.

Tim Ryan and Paul Green were on strike for Rovers to secure the three points and extend Port Vales dismal run of form.

Penney said:

"It's certainly wasn't a game for the purists but it was never going to be in those conditions"

"It was a case of standing up, being mentally strong and grinding out a result.

"We know we can play better than that but you couldn't judge anything in those conditions and it was a shame for the fans that they didn't have a better match to watch."
