Penney: It’s Over

Doncaster Manager Dave Penney has conceded defeat in his attempt to get Rovers promoted for a third successive time.

Rovers really needed a win against 7^th placed Brentford but could only manage a 0-0 draw.

 

Rovers were lucky to get a draw after the Bee’s goalkeeper scored from a clearance which Warrington fumbled but it was ruled out for a push on Warrington by Dean Burton.

 

Penney said:

 

"A draw was not really good enough for us and the play-offs now look out of the question.

"It's disappointing for all of us but we have to remember we were in the Conference not long ago and we've come a long way in the last couple of years.

"We tried to get the ball down and pass and we produced some intricate play around the penalty box but the conditions were difficult and it was not really a game of football."
