3 days in the life of the Champions

City win 3-1 at Gillingham, Schmeichel signs, Bernabia, Berkovic and Goater make PFA team. A brief run down of the last three days.

Gills 1 City 3 The champions moved on to 96 points with a comfortable 3-1 win at Gillingham on Saturday. 1st half goals from Horlock and the Goat were added to by Darren Huckerby's 20th league goal of the season. The three goals moved the league total onto 105 for the season, meaning a 4 goal haul in the final game of the season will break the all time league scoring record for any Manchester City side. City were their usual dominant self with Ali Bernabia running the show once again. All in all a fine way to finish the seasons travels. Schmeichel Signs Kevin Keegan stunned the City faithful by signing ex rag Peter Schmeichel on a one year contract. Schmeichel had found himself a free agent after being refused a guarantee of first team football at Villa. KK wasted no time on hearing that Schmeicel was available, apparently a deal was discussed and finalised last Thursday. The move is causing a difference of opinion amongst Blues the world over. The stubborn ones are adamant that such a high profile ex rag should never don the City badge, this site says trust in Kev and get behind whoever he signs, he hasn't done so bad so far has he? Three blues make the PFA team Ali Bernabia, Eyal Berkovic and Shaun Goater all made the PFA 1st divisional team of the year in last nights vote. The recognition for the three came as no surprise to anyone who has watched them this season. The only surprises were the exemptions of Shaun Wright-Phillips, Darren Huckerby and Kevin Horlock from the team.
