Paulo Wanchope got off to a winning start with Costa Rica in this mornings World Cup game against China.

Wanchope played for 80 minutes in Costa Rica’s 2-0 win, but failed to find the net. It was his first competitive game since he injured his knee in the FA Cup tie at Newcastle back in February.

Sun Jihai also started the game for China but only lasted for 26 minutes before limping off with an injury.

The next games to potentially involve City players are Ireland (Richard Dunne) v Germany tomorrow, Cameroon (Lucien Mettomo) v Saudi Arabia and Denmark (Niclas Jensen) v Senegal on Thursday.
