City went down 1-0 to Hamburg in their latest pre season outing. A second half Tomas Ujfalusi goal was enough to give Hamburg victory despite impressive displays from Sylvain Distin and Niclas Anelka.
City go down in HamburgCity lost their highest profile pre season fixture by a single goal on Saturday evening. The blues, who were without latest casualties Jon Macken and Ali Bernabia, put up a reasonable performance at Hamburg’s AOL arena, with Sylvain Distin and Niclas Anelka looking particularly good. City went down to a second half goal scored by Czech international Tomas Ujfalusi. 4,000 blues travelled to Northern Germany to make up a crowd of 33,500 for Kevin Keegan’s first return to Hamburg since his playing days. Keegan himself wasn’t too downbeat after the result, preferring instead to reflect on the performances of Distin and Anelka in particular. City now travel to Rochdale on Monday followed by Tranmere on Tuesday to complete their pre season warm up, after that the real business starts. A City second string also played on Saturday, managing a 2-1 win at Chester City. |
