Motherwell's poor disciplinary record continued when goalkeeper Duboureau was sent off for elbowing Kilmarnock forward Craig Dargo inside the box and at the same time conceding a penalty which led to Killie's winner.

Terry Butcher had a weakened side tonight, Dirk Lehmann, Stevie Hammell and Khaled Kemas were out injured with James McFadden also sitting this one out due to his suspension so no Motherwell fan was expecting anything from the match despite our excellent record at Rugby Park in recent seasons. other point worth mentioning, our friend John Rowbotham was the referee, when will we ever win a match with this man in the middle ?

A kris Boyd penalty nine minutes from time gave Kilmarnock all three points and let the Ayrshire side gain revenge for Saturday's cup exit to Motherwell. Goalkeeper Dubourdeau conceded the penalty after deliberatly elbowing Killie Forward Craig Dargo, he was sent off for the elbow and dubut kid Steven Craig was subbed to let Stevie Woods go into goals and his first task was to pick the ball out out of the net.
