Motherwell top goalscorer James McFadden has been nominated by his fellow pros for the 2002-2003 SPFA young player of the year award.

McFadden who has struck 15 times this season ( not bad going considering he's playing with a club bottom of the table ) is the favourite to land the award. Faddy's performances have attracted scouts from a host of Premiership clubs and the Old Firm to Fir Park. Phil O'Donnell is the only player to win such award ( 1993 / 94 )whilst at Fir Park and that earned him a move to Celtic the following season for a record 1.75 million and it looks increasing likely that Faddy will follow suit and leave in the summer.

Also nominated are Celtic's Shaun Maloney, Hibernian's Ian Murray and Falkirk striker Lee Miller who's excellent performances in the first division earned him a week's trial at Premiership Everton earlier in the season.
