Boro gained a morale-boosting 4-1 win over Watford last time while Villa have steadied the ship with a win and three draws from their last four games.
This fixture has been a good one for Villa in recent years and they've claimed a couple of startling results at the Riverside - 4-0 last year and 5-2 in 2003.
This current Villa side haven't scored more than two in any Premiership game this season so another big win looks extremely unlikely and the safe bet and probably the wise one is the draw.
The two played out a 1-1 at Villa Park earlier in the season and Martin O'Neill's men have drawn 15 of their 33 Premiership fixtures this season.
A point apiece would creep both onto 40 points and psychologically that's always an important barrier to reach.
Verdict: Middlesbrough 1 Aston Villa 1

THE BEST BOOKIES FOR THE 2007 GRAND NATIONAL
We've always endeavoured to bring you the best betting advice on these pages and just as we did last year, we have reviewed all of the online bookies and chosen the best for the 2007 Grand National.
We placed real bets with our own money when we did the reviews and took into account special offers, odds competitiveness, how user-friendly the website was, security and many other aspects. Five bookies came out of the trials with top marks in every category and they hvae now been nominated as our recommended bookies for the 2007 Grand National.
The first thing to note is that almost every online bookie has a free bet offer running almost permanently. With the exception of the second week of April when most firms drop their free bet offer altogether, specially for Grand National week.
It's no secret that free bet offers exist as an incentive to customers to stay with one company and it's even less of a secret that there are a multitude of punters out there who bet on one race a year and therefore will almost certainly never use their account again. These two factors form the basic reasoning of the firms who have suspended their free bet offers for this week.
So the first thing that we considered when selecting our chosen bookies was whether they are keeping their special offers running for the National and of course, our five selections are. So if you are going to bet on this race and this race only, you can effectively get yourself two bets for the price of one by using one of our recommended bookies.
Here's the rundown of our five chosen bookies for the 2007 Grand National:
