United are hoping to raise £4million through the issue of new shares in the club, with the money earmarked for the club's Academy.
The Blades will also be using the money raised to clear debts as they owe almost £2million in loan re-payments.
However the move has not yet been confirmed and will have to be rubber-stamped at a meeting of current shareholders.
Blades chiefs will answer questions from fans about the club's financial plans during two meetings later this month.
The first meeting is being held at the Platinum Suite on June 11 and the other is at the Carlsberg Suite two days later. Both meetings start at 7pm.
Acting plc chairman Kevin McCabe and Academy director John Warnock will be in attendance to discuss the new share issue.
Existing directors at Bramall Lane have already agreed to buy the majority of the new shares with around £500,000 being issued for sale to the general public on the Stock Exchange.
The move continues the clubs policy of backing youth and the Academy should benefit by being handed around £1.5million to aid development.
