McCall Competition

United look set to face competition from Second Division outfit Huddersfield Town for the services of Stuart McCall.

McCall, who was released by Bradford at the end of the season, has held talks with Neil Warnock and the Blades boss is quietly confident of securing the player's signature next month.

McCall has been lined up to replace Keith Curle as player/coach at the Lane, but it is rumoured that the former Scotland international could be offered a chance to succeed Lou Macari as Huddersfield manager.

United remain favourites to land McCall, however, with the vastly experienced midfielder in no real hurry to enter management.

With Georges Santos and Bobby Ford leaving at the end of the season, McCall would be a great help to youngsters like Michael Tonge and Phil Jagielka.
