Veteran Ex Blade Hangs Up Boots

Veteran striker Jan Aage Fjortoft has decided to hang up his boots.

Following the arrival of Rikhardur Dadason and Uwe Rosler at Lillestrom, Fjortoft - whose career has seen him play for Rapid Vienna, Swindon Town, Middlesbrough, Sheffield United, Barnsley and Eintracht Frankfurt - believes his playing opportunities will be limited next season.

"We have to redefine my part at the club. I'll contribute in other areas," the 35-year-old Fjortoft told VG.

Coach Arne Erlandsen has plans for the former Norway international.

"I'll make use of him for the benefit of the club off the pitch," he said. "He could be scouting, promoting the club and assist us in training. We'd also like to help Jan Aage educate himself as a coach."

Erlandsen feels Fjortoft has made an impact at the club, even though he failed to score in his four appearances.

"He's a very positive lad who I feel we need in the future," he said.
