During an interview with BBC Radio Humberside today, Hull City manager Peter Taylor has revealed the club are making enquiries about the possible signings of Gillingham striker Darren Byfield and Colchester's Craig Fagan.

It's no secret that Taylor hasn't been happy with the contributions of the City strikers this season, apart from Nick Barmby and the occasionally menacing Delroy Facey neither Aaron Wilbraham, Danny Allsopp or Jon Walters have been able to hold down a first team place or have shown any kind of goal scoring form recently.

22 year-old Craig Fagan, who plays for Colchester has scored 14 League and Cup goals this season is currently in talks with the Essex club about a extension to his contract which runs out in the summer. He looks a good prospect and would demand a sizeable transfer fee.

The more experienced Gillingham striker Darren Byfield, whose past clubs include Wallsall, Rotherham and Sunderland, has scored 6 goals from 24 starts and 2 sub appearances so far this season. An interesting point to note is that his girlfriend is the Brit Award winning singer Jamelia!

The recruitment of a goal scoring centre forward has increasingly become the managers main focus this month, and it has been no coincidence the Tigers recent run of bad form has come during the injury lay-off of leading scorer Stuart Elliott. Rumours have been circulating since the aborted Luke Beckett signing, with names including David Johnson and old favorite Dean Windass during the rounds, however this is the first time Peter Taylor has come out and publicly made his intentions clear on the subject.
