...over Students

Forwards coach Dave Addleton is optimistic Coventry have exorcised the ghost that until Saturday’s win at Loughborough Students , had haunted their away days.

While Cov have been seemingly unbeatable at Butts Park Arena this season they had lost three straight on the road before going to the university at the weekend.

A brace of tries from Chris Locke and strikes from Liam Munro, Mark Kohler and Barry Davies – and an outstanding second-half display, saw the visitors overwhelm their hosts 45-22 to cement fourth position in the National One table.

That also laid to rest any suggestion the Blue and Whites are a soft touch on their travels. “I hope we’ve sorted it now,” Addleton said. “We tried to create an atmosphere as much like a home game as possible.

“We stopped at a hotel, had a good meeting, got to the ground in good time and it went well.

“We have been banging on about it now for the last month, trying to get our heads right – I am hopeful we have finally done that. Although those could be famous last words.”

Addleton was pleased with the fact the tone of Coventry’s performance did not differ wildly from the week before, when they had strangled the threat out of Fylde.

Like Fylde the Students are an enterprising bunch who like to keep the ball alive but even from 17-7 behind Cov didn’t get dragged into chasing the game.

“We spoke in the week about what we’d do if we went a try down and even though we went in 17-16 down at half time we knew that all the heads were switched on – and if we are in that situation we should be good enough.
