Coventry Rugby are pleased to announce that the following three players:- Rob Knox, Ed Milne and Matt Hubbart have been added to their squad with immediate effect.
Rob Knox, aged 21 moves from local team Barkers Butts with their blessing. Rob, born in Coventry and attended Coundon Court School, started with Barkers Butts mini side and even had a spell with Coventry City Football Academy. Last season he spent part of it with Broadstreet before returning to Barkers Butts. Playing primarily at fullback there he is equally at home as centre. Standing at 6ft 3in and nearly 17st Rob is a hard running and tackling centre with his mazy running he is a difficult player to tackle. He has already been training with Coventry Rugby for some 6 weeks and has turned out for the Coventry Nighthawks side against Nuneaton.
Rob made his debut playing his first game for Coventry against Cinderford and remained on for the whole game scoring his maiden try and putting in a try saving tackle in the first half. He has shown his commitment to Coventry Rugby by signing a two year contract.
Rob is very pleased to be part of the Coventry club and is very much looking forward to working with the coaches and players already at the club.
Ed Milne aged 19 a flanker but preferring to play at No 8 comes to Coventry Rugby on a dual registered loan basis from Premiership side Leicester Tigers Academy. Born in London this is his third season at Leicester Academy. Standing at 6ft 3ins Ed is a hard physical player who enjoys the contact part of the game. Like Rob Knox he made his debut on Saturday and played the whole of the game. He put in an impressive hard running and tackling performance and looks forward to gaining more experience and game time at this level.
Matt Hubbart, also aged 19 a lock forward was born in Stoke-on-Trent whom he played for is in his second season at Leicester Tigers Academy, and again joins Coventry Rugby on a dual registered loan basis. Standing at 6ft 5 ins Matt again is very capable with ball in hand and like the other two players made his debut against Cindeford coming on in the last 10 minutes, and put in an impressive defensive physical performance as Coventry Rugby held out for the win. Matt very much looks forward to playing with and gaining experience with the Coventry squad.
