Backrowers to the future for Coventry Rugby.

Coventry Rugby are delighted to announce that two further key players from this year's squad have re-signed to stay at Coventry Rugby for the coming season. No 8 Jacques le Roux and flanker George Oliver will be back at Coventry Rugby for the new season.

Jacques Le Roux aged 29, born in South Africa and now a Portuguese International starts his third season here at Coventry Rugby where he has quickly made an immediate impact with his play-making skills and speed around the park, becoming a firm crowd favourite. A serious injury disrupted his start to this season but since back from injury Jacques has made a tremendous impact and from his 14 starts has scored no less than 12 tries. Settled well into the area Jacques believes that Coventry Rugby have the ability both off and on the field to make a real push for promotion next season.

George Oliver aged 21, plays mainly at No 7 signed for Coventry Rugby  earlier in the season from Leicester Tigers after a spell in their Academy, but has only recently recovered from an injury .Since returning from injury George has played 4 consecutive games including last week against Esher where he was The Rugby Paper man of the match. Already in his short period in the team George , whose all action work at No 7 has brought praise offers Coventry Rugby more options in this position.

Coventry Rugby are pleased that both these key players from such an important area of the pack have  pledged themselves to Coventry Rugby and with more key players shortly expected to sign  a more settled side is in prospect for the coming crucial season.

If there was one other player, apart from Cliffie, who I desperately wanted us to retain for next season it is Jacques. I've yet to see him have a bad game. He makes the hard yards with such power, commitment and enthusiasm and creates a high number of opportunities for the backs to benefit.
Good news indeed.

Just to confirm that Jacques has signed a 2 year deal with Coventry.

I think the 2 year deal will mean little if promotion is missed in the first year of his new contract. Although he seems to be very happy at the club and with his countrymen who also play for us.
Heard he might retire from international rugby and if he does it will only benefit Coventry with more games with him on the pitch.
Should his name not go on the board of internationals who played at Coventry? Being relatively new to Coventry Rugby (8Years) I have never known the criteria to get your name on the board.

Bono - you are correct in thinking that his name should go onto the International players board. Hopefully this will be done sooner rather than later.

Jacques' re-signing in particular is such a positive indication of his commitment to the club, and of the club's intentions and aspirations.
Now we really need to go all out for promotion next year in order to justify his commitment and his faith in PM, Scott, Aggie, PG, in fact, the entire structure of the club. As a statement of intent, I don't reckon you can beat this.
