Cliffie Hodgson gets a kick out of breaking Cov record.

Skipper Cliffie Hodgson broke Coventry’s all-time scoring record for a season as he led the side to a crushing 43-0 win over shell-shocked Esher at the Butts Park Arena.

Hodgson contributed 18 points to Cov’s biggest winning margin of the current National League One campaign, finishing the game on 340 with his tenth try of the season taking him past Steve Gough’s previous record of 333 set in 1998-99.

“It’s a humbling feeling that my hard work is paying off and I’m really pleased with what I’ve achieved,” said Hodgson, who will be staying at Cov next season despite interest in him from Championship clubs along with fellow South African, No.8 Jacques Le Roux who signed a new two-year deal before Saturday’s game.
