Coventry rugby side to face Hull Ionians just announced.

The Coventry Rugby side has just been announced to face Hull Ionians here at the Butts Park Arena this coming Saturday 26th April 2014 in their last game of the season.
Following their tremendous battle in almost beating leaders Doncaster Knights 2 weeks ago Coventry Rugby show a number of changes from that team with injuries, suspension and non-availability taking their toll.
Cliffie Hodgson reverts to full-back in place of Barry Davies, with Luke Myring back in the centre after his recent injury. Richard Nauer trialist comes in on the wing in place of Mark Kohler who goes onto the bench. The front row shows a number of changes with both Tim Ryan and Chad Thorne injured and Ignas Darkintis on international duty, with Danny Hobbs dr loan from Northampton Saints and the RFU have given special dispensation for prop forward Ben Dawes who comes in from National League 3 Midlands champions BroadStreet. With Tom Poole suspended Danny Wright replaces him in the second row with Sam Pailor back at No 6 and George Oliver comes in at No 7. Brett Daynes is recalled onto the bench.

Tom had three yellow cards this season and received a two week suspension.The suspension is split between the last game of this season and the first pre season game of the 2014-15 season.

Agreed. What's wrong with Evans? or Harris? They were deemed good enough for 25+ games each last season. Or what about Clark or the other little winger ?
Why recruit and presumably pay them if they are not going to be used?
Can I be recruited on that basis please? No, on second thoughts I'd rather play.

There is a saying that sometimes,
"The devil you know is better than the devil you do not"
IMHO the coaches at Coventry have yet to stumble across this philosophy. They are quite happy to go through what must be 55 to 60 players (yes Tom senior it must be) in an attempt to gain nirvana.
In the meantime by doing so they risk alienation of those excluded whilst they under go their experimentation. This is all very well, save the fact that they presumably thought the excluded players worthy at some stage too.
I do not think this is sustainable. Financially, or ethically. Coventry must have used more players than most premiership sides?

Or you could say it's hard to see what a trial player is like without playing him...seems like an ideal time?

looking forward to the game , but slightly apprehensive looking at the team.not our strongest team for various reasons so they will need the right attitude-not an end of season couldnt care less approach.

I'm a little surprised James Otatuha (I think I've finally got that correct. Woo hoo!) isn't in the squad. I'm pretty sure he would have got a great ovation had he came on as sub in his final game. I wish him well for his future career.

I agree Tim,i think he has been badly treated to have had 18 starts then disregarded seems very strange.As for finally getting it correct its otutaha.i also wish him well hope he gets a club that appreciates his hard work and honesty

We seem destined not to agree. The squad listing that you, Old Nick, update currently shows 48 players. 40 / 41 that have played, together with another 8 that have not played.
There was also the period mid season where there was the roundabout in the three quarters, a la volleyball. Cliff has played No10, full back and centre to my knowledge and we have witnessed scrumhalves at wing etc, etc.
So my point remains I am afraid. It is not inaccurate rhetoric, but a perhaps an inconvenient truth.

Cliff has the footballing ability to play in all those positions. He covers at 15 when Davies is injured, otherwise 10 or 12. Nothing remarkable about it at all.

Totally correct redsini, Very sorry, I should have done a bit more homework. I spoke to James after todays game. He seemed genuinely gutted to be leaving Cov, and he stated to us he will be leaving a great club and he will have memories to last a lifetime. A genuine nice guy who definitely has true feelings for the club and the supporters.

Tonker you were worried about the club fielding a weakened side, please look at the result of todays weaked team. As far as James O, our hair display today was to try and make the management change their mind over his retention. James plays with heart and I wish him all the success where ever he plays next year.

I'm getting very confused here! Is JO definitely leaving? Is there anything official? I really hope he doesn't go.
We got rid of a very good scrum half that alledgedly couldn't kick and replaced him with a scrum half that definitely can't kick! Lets not make a mistake like that with JO.

Sorry. I don't agree Spookykid. I won't argue with the kicking part of the game, but I reckon Silver is a much quicker passer of the ball, and sets the backs in motion much earlier. As for JO.We should keep him. Definitely.
