Consistency the key to success, says Cov coach Scott Morgan.

Head coach Scott Morgan gave Coventry’s season a “seven out of ten” after they finished their National League One campaign with a 67-14 rout of Hull Ionians at the Butts Park Arena.

“In any league the table doesn’t lie over a long season, and the truth is that we are the third best team in the league,” said the Wales international second row.

“We could have won it, but we didn’t deserve to – we weren’t consistent enough or good enough defensively.

“But if we want to build on something going forward we need stability, and out of the 15 players who started against Doncaster two weeks ago we have retained 14 and we will strengthen in the areas where we identify the need to.”

Cov trailed for a large part of the first half of Saturday’s game, eventually going into the break 15-7 up, and Morgan admitted that it took some harsh words to set the side on course for an eventual ten-try win – Jacques Le Roux and Rob Knox both scoring hat-tricks.

Cov showed their potential in the second half by retaining the ball, in comparison to the first half when they seemed to kick it away, again!
