New wingers for Coventry Rugby.

Coventry Rugby are delighted to announce their first two new signings for the coming season with exciting wingers Dan Rundle and Samosini Speight both making their way to the Butts Park Arena.
Dan Rundle, aged 21 joins from fellow NL1 side Tynedale whom he joined at the start of last season scoring 8 tries from his 22 appearances, including two against Coventry Rugby. Dan a local from the North-East started his senior rugby career at Westoe for two seasons before moving on to Tynedale. Standing at 6ft 1in Dan is a fast and elusive runner able to score some spectacular tries from deep, as Coventry indeed found to their cost. A welcome addition to Coventry’s backs giving an extra dimension to their cutting edge.
Samosini Speight or Sammy as he is more commonly known, joins Coventry Rugby from Championship side Bristol Shoguns. An exponent in the sevens game for the British Army, Fijian born Sammy has had experience in the 15 aside game both for the Army and representing the Combined Services. Now aged 28 Sammy’s spell at Bristol was disappointing despite a good pre-season, he very much welcomes the opportunity here at Coventry Rugby to show off his equally spectacular try scoring exploits. Another strong running winger Sammy has the ability to excite and thrill the Coventry public with his own brand of running rugby.
These two signings bring the total Coventry squad up to 23 including 21 retained from last season, with only 2 players moving on despite Coventry Rugby’s best endeavours to keep them. More announcement s are expected shortly especially in the front row positions once the necessary paperwork has been completed.

The 'rumoured' Southern Hemisphere props will also be a welcome addition I'm sure, although we'll obviously attract the usual criticism re. being a side of 'journeymen'.

However, I am a bit unsure as to what crime Messrs.Evans and Harris committed?
The 2012/13 season was one in which the ball rarely went beyond number 8 and when it did we had JO and Heath in the centres.
I think that notwithstanding, both their strike rates were on a par with Kohler's and I think both were better defensively. Anyway, onwards and upwards, we now are upto 23........lets not get carried away, eh Oldnick?
