Scottish U20’s star returns to his roots…

Coventry Rugby are delighted to announce that Scotland’s U20’s fly-half Ben Cooper has signed for Coventry Rugby, their third new signing for the coming season. Ben aged 22 was brought up in Warwickshire and attended Bablake School here in Coventry before going on to Sedbergh School in Cumbria. Whilst at University in Leeds Ben became a member of the Leeds Carnegie Academy.

The start of last season saw Ben playing for Kelso before going onto Boroughmuir. He has represented Scotland at all age groups and last season received his third and fourth caps for the U20’s against England and Ireland. Now returned home to Warwickshire Ben actually played for the County in May of this year.

Already an experienced fly-half Ben will have Matt Jones as his mentor and very much looks forward to the challenge his new club will bring. Ben is delighted to join Coventry Rugby for the coming season,’ the club has a lot of ambition, an excellent environment which I hope will allow me to develop as a player and help the club push for promotion. Coventry is a club I have grown up with after going to school here, coming to watch matches with my Dad, and I have also played here a few times while at Bablake. Nothing will compare to the first time I run out in a blue and white shirt though.

He has an impressive rugby CV considering his age (20, not 22 apparently).
Only watched him the once and he looks a talented Player. A talkative 10 with a big boot. Seems a very nice lad as well.
Hopefully he can settle in quickly and offer options to Cov.
