Coventry Rugby complete retained list…

Coventry Rugby are pleased to confirm that a total of 24 players have re-signed for the coming season, with the news that 4 more players will be back at the Butts Park Arena next season. Back row forwards Liam Munro and Gareth Turner as well as scrum-half Louis Silver and winger/scrum-half Alex Smit have all been retained.
Coventry Rugby also confirm that a previous member of the retained list, Matt Tibbatts is in the process of joining the RAF and will no longer be available. The Coventry club wish him every success in his new venture and thank him for all his hard work over the past four seasons here at Coventry.
Liam Munro, aged 26, usually playing at No 7 joined from Rugby Lions two seasons ago. A disrupted pre-season due to work commitments and then injury restricted his appearances with Liam making 8 appearances including 5 starts and scoring 1 try. Last season he also played 5 games when on loan at Broadstreet.
Gareth Turner, playing mainly at No8,but also as blindside is another player that joined from Rugby Lions, this time three seasons ago. Most of his second season he was ruled out with a serious injury, and last season Gareth regained his fitness whilst at Broadstreet, making 11 appearances for them. Gareth,although not making any appearances for the senior team was named a travelling reserve for Coventry Rugby on a number of occasions.
Louis Silver, aged 23 starts his second season here as scrum-half after joining Coventry Rugby from Doncaster Knights, after spells at other Championship sides Moseley and Bristol. Virtually an ever present in the Coventry side last season he made 26 appearances including 22 starts and scored 4 tries.
Alex Smit, aged20, joined Coventry Rugby at the start of last season from Bedford Academy. A fast nippy player, playing usually at wing and also able to play at scrum-half or fly-half Alex made 4 replacement appearances scoring one try. He also made two appearances when on loan at Broadstreet.

Time now to concentrate on next season's squad......
Is there an official retained list yet? It would be good to have his status confirmed. I've always taken a lack of announcement about him re-signing to be because he's retained on the basis of being on a 2 year contract. Logic, eh..
The start of the new season still seems a long time away. It's nice to be past the half way point between the last game of the season gone and the first friendly of the new season. I don't know about anyone else who reads this board but every bit of Cov related news, gossip and discussion helps it pass that little bit quicker for me!
I'm looking forward to hearing more about the new signings. Fingers crossed for Danny Hobbs returning, though I feel that might be wishful thinking! Still another Northampton prop to match the quality of those we've already had would do me!
