Cov record first win of season - but coach unimpressed as team crumbles in second half

Head coach Scott Morgan admitted to mixed feelings after Coventry edged through 30-27 at Loughborough Students to record their first win of the National League One season.

Leading 27-8 early in the second half, Cov were hanging on at the finish as they let the home side back into the game and missed out on a four-try bonus point.

“I’m happy to come away from home and record our first win,” said Morgan. “Loughborough had a good pre-season, they extended Ealing last week, and they are a well-drilled, well-coached team.

“But, if I’m honest, I’m disappointed not to have got our bonus point. I thought we lost our shape in the second half so, yes, there is lots to work on.

“Performance-wise, it was an improvement from last week in parts but I think there is still a lot of learning to do as a group.
