Aviva Premiership side issue statement to say they are unable to reveal more at present as they are 'bound by confidentiality agreements'.

Wasps have apologised to their fans for keeping them in the dark as rumours about a move to Coventry persist.

The Aviva Premiership side - who currently play at Adams Park in High Wycombe - have issued a statement today.

The statement said: “We understand how frustrating the current uncertainty is for Wasps supporters.

“It is not through a lack of desire that we haven’t updated you, it is simply because there is nothing we are able to add to our original statement at this time.

“This is because the club’s hands are tied as we are bound by confidentiality agreements.

“When we are in a position to say something, we will communicate to our players and staff, to our supporters and to the media.

“We appreciate your patience at this time.”

Fans of the club, that was originally based in London, have taken to social media to vent their fury over the club's silence  since the Telegraph revealed they were in talks to buy a share of the company that operates the Ricoh Arena.

They should also apologise to Coventry rugby for the chairman of wasps stating there was no other rugby team in Coventry.

Sorry Tom but that is exactly what Jon said in his lecture before the last home game! Has he apologised to all other Coventry rugby teams for saying it?

You appear to want to criticise Cov Rugby and defend the other parties (Coventry Council. Wasps owners). With Cov being pretty much the innocent bystanders in all this and you being a Cov supporter, it seems an odd approach to take.

Where have I criticised Coventry Rugby Rustyproof. I have stated facts:

1) I was present when Jon performed his lecture about Coventry being the only rugby club in the city – I believe that was disrespectful to all of the other clubs in my city, especially after they helped Coventry after the Green fiasco.

2) Coventry Council will do their best to get the best deal for the tax payers of Coventry - it is their duty to do so, and that is why they are elected by the people of Coventry.

I have also stated that I will be watching Coventry if they are at home at the same time as Wasps. So please do not try and change my words or use them against me. I am very much a realist and not a fantasist.

If you can prove my intentions are not correct, then please reply with facts and evidence.

as a cov supporter you should be happy that the chairman speaks out for the club's interests. You seem strangely put out by him doing so.
Your complete faith as a taxpayer in the council to make the right decisions is hard to fathom. They may be right in this instance, although there is much to suggest that they may not be.

Rustyproof,

Yes, I am more than happy for Jon to speak out for the club. What I am unhappy (put out) with is Jon being disrespectful to all of the other great clubs in Coventry whom take unpaid time and effort to nurture the rugby talent in my city.

Yes, I do have faith in Coventry Council, especially in the debacle with SISU. They were right to take them to court and ultimately win the case. It would have been far easier to have given in and surrendered the Ricoh to said folk whose desire is to make a financial killing. I have also had many dealings with my local councillors over the years. I have been hugely impressed with their professionalism and attitude to some very difficult decisions – you cannot please everybody all the time.

Wrong again Tom.

You're making a habit of it.
