Gareth Turner enjoying life after long haul back from injury

Fortune began to change for Turner when he came off the bench for the final minutes of Cov’s opening game of the season.
Coventry flanker Gareth Turner must be the epitome of the saying that all good things come to those who wait.
Thirty long, injury-ridden months on from his only previous start for Cov, the 24-year-old back row forward’s name appeared in the starting XV for last Saturday’s game against Wharfedale at the Butts Park Arena.
And his patience was rewarded in spectacular fashion as he powered over for a try after just 87 seconds, launching Cov towards a 53-26 victory.
“That was quite unexpected,” said Turner, who joined Cov from Rugby Lions before the 2011-12 season. “I got on the end of Matt Jones’s pass and went over in the corner. It was nice!”
It’s been a long haul back for Turner who, after his debut at Ealing in April 2012 and a replacement appearance in the next game against Tynedale, broke his foot and then did the same again the following season.
“I had a rod put in it, and then after getting over that I dislocated my shoulder and had a full reconstruction,” he said.
