Head coach Scott Morgan applauded Coventry’s best team performance of the season after their 48-27 win over Richmond at the Butts Park Arena.

Cov scored seven tries – five in the first half as they opened up a 36-10 lead – against a side beaten only once in their six previous games – to move up to fourth place in National League One.

“We really played like a team in the first half,” said Morgan. “I don’t think we’ve had that level of cohesion before and it was great to see.

"We are searching for that complete performance, but I’m really proud of the boys today. Richmond are a top outfit, they came here organised and well drilled, and we’ve really just been too much for them.

“We’ve said to the boys ‘identify space, let’s get the ball into that space and that will allow us to play a bit more and keep the ball alive.’

"I think we’ve been a little bit safe at times, running back into rucks where teams in this league are strong, so we’re trying to get the ball into areas where there is space and then we can get that continuity.
