Scott Morgan conceded that Coventry’s first-ever win at Maccesfield was one they would not have achieved last season.

A below-par Cov were 13-6 down at half-time against a side still searching for their first point of the season, but dug deep to secure a 21-13 victory and take their winning run in National League One to four games.

“It’s a good win for us and we’re happy with that,” said head coach Morgan. “It’s another away win on the board, and this time last year we weren’t winning these type of games.

“We created some really good opportunities in the first 20 minutes but the final pass just didn’t go to hand, and I think that changed the dynamic of the game a little bit.

A win for which we should be thankful, but perhaps not a good one
