The Coventry Rugby side to play Darlington Mowden Park here at the Butts Park Arena on Saturday 15th November with kick off at 3 pm has just been named.

It shows three changes from the starting line-up that beat Hartpury College last Saturday. Prop forward Beno Obano returns after his LV Cup duty with Bath in place of Andy Brown who goes onto bench in place of Rikki Stout, whilst Edd Milne also comes back after injury and his recent MOM display in the LV Cup for Leicester at No 8 in place of Sam Pailor, who switches to No 6 in place of Luke Joseph. On the wing Dan Rundle exchanges places with Dom Lespierre who replaces him on the bench.

On the replacements bench there is a welcome return for Chris Locke after injury in place of Finlay Sinclair, and in the back row either as No 6 or 8 comes  dual registered player Charlie Becket, an English Academy player at Leicester aged 19 who replaces Jack Gibbons.

Hope Matts injury is not too serious, we will miss his effort and management skills. Looking forward to seeing Coventry after two weeks away, feel like I have been on rehab.

Looking at that I'd expect we'll see rather more interchanges used than in the past couple of weeks.

Beno, I expect is there for straight power, against the effective DMP pack, but I doubt he'll play beyond the hour (unless rested and back on). I'd be surprised if the back row replacement doesn't get used too for the same reason.

Dom seemed to be having problems with his footing in the wet at Gartpury - I'm wondering if they're hoping to give Dan a few goes at their defense early before the pitch breaks up too much.

Just checking.. Ed Milne is a dual registerd player.
He's not in the squad list, but I'm sure his name is familiar?!

I feel sorry for jack gibbons, who was on the subs bench last week, didnt get on, and isn't selected in pace of a loanee! Unless of course he's injured, otherwise those type of selections, on the face of it, seem odd. Having said that, I like the look of the back row this week.

DMP are not to be taken lightly , even tho they have only won 3 games. they have 4 try bonus points same as us & a positive points for c/w against, the only team in the bottom to have this
rundle deserves a run out but dom is unlucky to be benched as hes played well at home.
com on cov!

I think its fair to say that all the subs at last weeks game had a look of 'disappointment'on their faces after not getting any game time. .... Yes im sure it was disappointment! ;-)

Charlie Beckett sounds like a good quality loanee. He captained England u.18s and recently played for Tigers in the LV cup. He's a big lad as well, over 18 stone, according to the RFU stats.

Good to have DR players when you need them but think it disheartens our signed players when they are fit and get overlooked for loan players. We have to remember if we are to progress players need to be our own as loan players can be re called at any time.if we continue to leave out our own players we may get a reputation and will find it difficult to sign new players

reading the thread on the Tigers thread LV win over a strong Sale side, both Ed Milne and Beckett get a lot of credit.
Regarding the useof loanees, I think Beckett could perhaps provide cover at lock as well, which is certainly an area where we are currently short.

A little bit of good news in the latest e-newsletter...

Rob Knox has committed his future to the Butts Park Arena by signing a two-year extension to his contract.
Rob, who came to the club last season from Barkers Butts, has been a revelation this season, frightening defences with his powerful running and forming a solid midfield partnership with Callum MacBurnie, and the coaches are delighted with the progress he is making.

On the injury front, second row Roan van Heerden has returned to training after surgery on the knee problem he picked up pre-season at Merthyr Tydfil and fellow forward Danny Wright is also well on the road to recovery after a back operation.

interesting view on loanees, because it off sets peoples views on having wasps loanees who would be at the same playing level except travelling from a lot further away

Rob Knox has been a revelation this season. Also, I can imagine Scott Morgan will be desperate for RVH or Danny to play soon. Scott has been nothing short of heroic lately and he must be in bits after every game.
