after withstanding second-half fightback by Old Albanian
Head coach Scott Morgan expressed relief and frustration as Coventry stretched their winning run in National League One to 13 games with a hard-earned 24-19 victory at Old Albanian.
Cov needed a late try from Lewis Ludlam to secure their first win in three visits to St Albans as, 17-0 up at the break, they had to withstand a strong fightback by the home side.
“It was a tough second half, but it’s another first and I’m really happy with that,” said Morgan, whose side remain second in the table but fell a further point behind leaders Ealing Traifinders.
“We went in at half-time in a more than comfortable position, and against the wind all it meant was tightening up a little bit as we discussed and just grinding it a bit more. But we got impatient, forced it a bit, and we didn’t retain the ball as much as we’d have like and gave it up quite cheaply.
