...despite last-gasp defeat
Head coach Scott Morgan had nothing but praise for the desire and commitment of his injury-ravaged Coventry side after they were denied victory at National League One leaders Ealing Trailfinders in the dying moments.
Ealing scored their winning try two minutes from time, coming through 24-18, as Cov finished the game with 14 men following a succession of injuries which saw prop Adam Parkins taken to hospital for observation after being concussed in the first half and Dom Lespierre suffer a suspected broken jaw in his first game back in the side after an identical injury in January.
Props Andy Brown (knee) and Chad Thorne (shoulder), back row Sam Pailor (back) and centre Mark Hodgkiss (knee) also went off with Cov twice going down to 13 men.
More magnificent support from cov fans probably 250 there. Cov gave their all against a monster pack and looked the better side in 2nd half despite a man short.
I can only say here here to your post. The visiting support was magnificent, whilst as Scott has eluded to we all had every reason to be very proud of the team's efforts.
Due to late arrival at Vallis Way, Our group of four had to sit behind the posts. An unfamiliar view point for me. But what was the stand out for us was the shear size of the COV following. Immense support throughout the entire game. Very proud to see that. Plus a great performance even in defeat. Great thanks to every player and supporter for last Saturday.
Which has put their average up to 496 (according to Statbunker), and the ninth highest average in the division.
Pretty poor for the Champions-elect. There are four clubs at the level below us that beat that.
How is this sustainable unless they have a huge boost in numbers up their sleeve (doubtful)?
