Two more back row players for Coventry Rugby.

Coventry Rugby today confirm the signing of two new players for their back-row in Alex Woodburn and Thomas Hughes.

Alex Woodburn, aged 23 an open-side flanker had a brief but successful spell on loan from Gloucester Rugby at Coventry Rugby late last season. Alex had previously been a member of the Gloucester Academy and whilst there had played 39 games for Hartpury College and transfers in from Gloucester Rugby.

Thomas Hughes, aged 22 is New Zealand based and was introduced by a member of the Penquins International Touring side. Tom can play anywhere in the back-row adds even more competition to an exciting backrow.

These two signings bring Coventry Rugby’s squad up to 37 including 14 new signings.

Just want to check that jaques is still at the club? He seemed to be out of favour in the last few games after getting back to fitnesss at broadst?

Believe he is in second year of 2 year contract but the reason he did not play more was Ed Milne IMO

Also coming back from a longterm injury he probably wasn't physically at his best. Hopefully with a full pre-season behind him, we will see him back to his best next season.

Not sure you're right there, Bono. Ed Milne was injured sufficiently early in the season for JLR to have come back and cemented his place. From my observations, when Jacques did come back into the side he wasn't the player we had witnessed the previous season. That may have been because he wasn't completely match fit, as RR says, so we hope for better things this coming season.

The Achilles tendon injury is a lousy injury to come back from physically and mentally. I hope Jacques has a great pre-season and comes back and shows us what a marvelous player he is.
Also, I see from the official site that we didn't sign Thomas Hughes, but the Kiwi we signed was Thomas Preece. Welcome to Cov Tom.
