Groundshare with CCFC back on?

I don't care how this is wrapped up, it spells bad news for Cov Rugby club.
Sisu have no where to go, in 18 months they have no where to play, they will say anything to get a deal at a ground, once this is achieved they will revert to norm and bully and harass and plan to take over the stadium.
Sisu are a hedge fund, they make money out of taking over companies and then asset stripping them and selling off the lucrative parts. This failed at the Ricoh, they will try exactly the same if they get control of the BPA.

When did this meeting with Jon Sharp take place. My guess is many moons ago when the story was first mooted. What is said in the Observer or Telegraph for that matter carry little weight.

The article suggests that Jon Sharp's statement is a recent one - it talks about the 'mediation process' which has only been recently proposed.

I'm not sure about the how likely a groundshare is in reality, but I don't see any indication that the report is made up. Mr Sharp is quoted directly - this isn't a "sources close to... say" piece.

This is the full quotation as quoted by the Coventry Observer. On past form I would not put it pas them to have omitted some sections of what was said, but I would expect that it was all said or written by Jon Sharp, and fairly recently.

It very clearly does not say that a Groundshare with CCFC is back on,

“Following the reports of the mediation process, we at Coventry Rugby Club ( CRL ) are pleased to see some progress in attempt to bring closure to what has been a disruptive period for all parties in this city.

“If we at Coventry Rugby can play some part in resolving these issues we are willing to assist.

“We can confirm preliminary discussions have taken place with both “CCFC” and the EFL on the possibility of the football club playing at BPA as tenants of CRL (Coventry Rugby Limited).

“There are several issues that would have to be resolved but we do not rule out that a solution could be found that satisfies all parties.

“As mentioned above, we are very willing to be involved in the mediation, however with the proviso that nothing negatively impacts on Coventry Rugby Club and its future.”

Absolutely Nick, but it does seem that discussions around it are happening again otherwise why talk to the Football League.

Something seems to have changed here recently - prior to this the last we heard was that it was all off.

The last time the supporters were told was at a meeting prior to xmas was that it was categorically not happening.It was all paper talk and it was not happening aqnd there was nothing to worry about. Supporters expressed their huge concerns on both occasions.
Please Mr Sharp put this story to bed once again,as the communications this past 8 months have been superb,lets not spoil this huge area improved on

Discussions with the football league, EFL etc. are happening because an MP for Daventry has raised with the Sports Minister that it would be a bad idea if her name was associated with a formerly great football club being dissolved.

The discussions are 'Mediatiopn' - an attempt to get all the parties involved talking with the hope that something good falls out. CCFC's landlord, Wasps, have so far not got involved in the talking and have said they won't while SISU continues pointless legal actions.

At this stage that's all they are. The topic of where CCFC will play if they don't play at the Ricoh is bound to have come up at such discussions. Is Jon Sharp going to lie to the press and say "No, it hasn't been discussed" if what he rally means is "No, there has been no meaningful detailed discussion", and when the press in question would edit that to read "No, there has been no discussion" to get a bad view of the rugby club?

It would be very naive to assume that reporting by the Coventry Observer, or later by BBC local radio is unbiased and fair. They both have more of an interest in there being news that they have made, than in that news being fair. accurate, or unbiased.

... what did you take that to mean?

To me, that looks quite clearly like CRFC are talking about the possibility of a ground share with CCFC. It certainly doesn't mean it's going to happen (you'll note the question mark in the title, perhaps), but if that's an accurate, direct quote then I can't see how you could read it any other way.

The whole 'bias' thing doesn't really work for me - in my experience that's often used to denigrate a report/reporter in general terms rather than specifically challenge the facts presented.

Tonight BBC Coventry and Warwickshire was describing the mediation talks on the future of CCFC as "Mediation talks on the future of the BPA". "Phil Upton heading home" at about 5:10.

We really do need Jon Sharp and the Board of Coventry Rugby to make a statement over this. After a season where it has seen a refreshing change for information over team affairs to be so open, this needs to be transferred to the way the club is heading from a business point of view.it has all the makings of a terrific B??ls up if not handled correctly.

I don't trust Les Reid, he is pro sisu and anti everything cov tel and city council. This quote seems to be the old Sharp quote from last year re worded.

Same as before really ck. I can hold my opinions about reporters too, and they add little value to the debate unless I've got facts to back them up.

The way I see it is if someone reports something I don't like I can either accuse them of bias and ignore it, or engage with the facts as they are presented and dispute it.


On that note, if this is a rehashed quote from Jon Sharp why does it specifically mention the mediation which has only just been proposed?
