It’s Goodbye from Him and a Hello from me

And it's a goodbye from him and a hello from me.

Following on from Steve's , or Kimbo as he is more better known post yesterday , just a few words from me.

Firstly , a massive thanks to Steve for picking up the baton and steering ' SS Message Board ' so successfully all those moons ago.  Keeping this board going and updated might be stressful at times, but I hope you feel it is worthwhile.  We all share the common bond and passion as Supporters of Coventry Rugby and long may that continue.

We are all aware of the common issues currently about in our wonderful game and hope, if reports are to be believed, peace could be about to break out. We shall see.  I think it is worth remembering the values of our game, sportsmanship and respect, I believe, the most important elements involved it it.  I hope you will agree?

As I see it, this Message Board offers a chance for opinions to be aired, points to be made and a chance for you to have your say.  Kimbo has reassured me that 'overstepping' the mark, or crossing the line, are very rare occurrences I am glad to say.

So , it's over to you.  Let's chat, comment and talk Blue and White.

Thank you.

Welcome Paul.

I fully agree that this is an excellent medium for 'chat' about Cov and rugby in general.
Kimbo has done a fine job (often under trying circumstances from SportNetwork).
There are many of us who daily, read all the new posts, but rarely compose our own - I for one, will try to do better, in this regard.

Does anyone have any updates on the latest meeting between the RFU and the Championship Clubs? It all seems to have become enshrouded in a deafening silence of 'non disclosure'. I hope this isn't a case of 'can kicking' by the RFU, making things harder than ever for Championship Clubs trying to plan for next season.

You may have seen this already:

RFU statement: Deadline set for new-look English Championship plan

The latest RFU council meeting has set a deadline to progress plans for a revised Championship in England. There has been much debate over the future of the tier-two league following the recent financial collapse of three Gallagher Premiership clubs – Worcester, Wasps and London Irish – along with the 2022/23 Championship champions Jersey Reds.

Following a meeting on Friday, the RFU issued its latest update on where plans are for a revised Championship. A statement read: “Following a meeting of all the Championship clubs on February 8 and an update to council today [Friday], the RFU and Championship have agreed a revised timeline to progress plans around the development of tier two.

“RFU council voted today in favour of the principle of introducing minimum operating standards for rugby’s second tier as part of plans for the growth strategy of the league.

Between now and Friday, March 29, the RFU and the Championship will work together to further agree on the detail within the minimum operating standards (MOS), establish a governance structure for the league, confirm the number of teams in the league and discuss promotion/relegation mechanics within the structures.

“Following working group meetings between now and the end of March, an update will be provided to council at its April meeting. We would like to thank all National League clubs who have expressed an interest in being part of a relaunched second tier.”

Thank you Paul for taking this on. I look forward, as ever, to my daily browse of the Message Board and occasionally posting. I do hope that the "overview" of Championship fixtures which Kimbo has been posting after each round of games will be able to continue. Best wishes and good luck Paul.

Thanks for your kind words Old Faithful. I do, if Steve is unable to carry it on, will certainly plan to do an ' overview ' of the round. Hope this will allay your fears?
