Championship Round-up 20/21st April

With four home wins, the sole away winners being Ealing at Caldy, a total of 333 points scored across the five fixtures, it was another entertaining Championship round.

Table-toppers Ealing Trailfinders ensured lightning didn't strike twice as they cruised to a standard success, 49-18 at Caldy, a BP points win.  Tries were spread throughout  , six tries for forwards claimed. Att: 1254

London Scottish continued their revival with 45-27 win over visitors Nottingham.  Highlight here was a hat-trick for dual registered hooker from Harlequins, Jack Musk. A BP win for Scottish with a four try BP for Nottingham to travel back home up the M1 with.  Att: 814

Ampthill routed Doncaster Knights at the Olney Field, 49-9, seven tries scored by the hosts.  It must have been very uncomfortable viewing for the travelling, bedecked Knights fans who made the trip.  Hasn't been a good season for Donny, yet again. Att: 1026

Today's  fixture saw Cambridge travel cross country to Cornish Pirates who, despite a sticky first period which ended in the hosts trailing 14-18 at the turnaround ran out comfortable winners.   A second period onslaught by Pirates, outscoring Cambridge with 31 unanswered points for the eventual BP win.  Att: 1414

Cov's 54-19 win at the BPA over a beleaguered Bedford Blues has been covered elsewhere.  Suffice to say, the blistering second half display was the best I have seen for a long time.  Ryan Hutler grabbed an excellent hat-trick, James Martin's 66th minute effort, leaving at least 3 defenders grounded , was special. However, Pat Pellegrini continues to create excitement whenever he has the ball.  A real talent.  Att: 3781
