Hawley impresses on Debut.

Karl Hawley marked his Raith Rovers debut with a last minute winner againt Dumbarton, in front of what was the divisions biggest crowd of the day.

Just under 2000 People (Largest of the day in the division) turned out to watch this Bells Scottish second Division game between Raith Rovers and Dumbarton. Karl Hawley started on bench and witnessed what reports have described as a typical early season game with limited chances and poor finishing dominating the game. Rovers made the first move to win the game at half time when player manager Antonio Calderon came on as Rovers tried to break the dead lock. It was however the introduction of Karl Hawley after the hour mark that signalled a change in the game as Rovers played with four strikers and pushed on for the winner. In the 89th minute "Hawley beat the keeper at his near post with a low drive which relied on accuracy rather than power" (www.RaithRoversfc.com) Colin Lee did say that he wanted Karl to play first team football, score goals and eventually come back and play in the first team, and it looks as though Karl has started of well, and i wouldn’t bet against him carrying this form on. It is no secret that Lee has confidence in his younger players, and out of the young strikers we have Hawley is the most similar to Jorge, because he is very physical and holds up the ball well, he has scored at every level so far, and his progress at Raith will watched closely.
