Walsall have signed Wimbledon forward Gareth Ainsworth on a one month loan deal. The much traveled striker can can also play on the right of midfield. Ainsworth is 29 years old and has been struggling with injuries lately.

Forward Gareth Ainsworth has joined the Saddlers on a months loan from Wimbledon.

He has previously scored goals at this level for both Wimbledon and Port Vale, but he his time at Selhurst park has been dogged by injuries. 

He joins the Saddlers with a good pedigree having played in the Premier League and having accumulated just over two and half million pounds in transfer fee's. It is uncertain as to whether or not it could lead to a permanent move, but it looks like we are just the club for him to prove his fitness at. He started of as a trainee at Blackburn and his past clubs include..... Northwitch, Preston, Cambridge Utd, Preston, Lincoln City, Port Vale, Wimbledon and a spell on loan at PNE at the end of last season.

Ainsworth can also play on the right of midfield, a position that Darren Wrack has all but made his own this season. The 29 year old Dons player is available for this weekends clash, but it remains unclear as to why he has been signed when we already have plenty of cover in the forward positions.

TheSaddlersFC reported a few weeks back that Gary Birch was getting restless over his lack of first team opportunities, and this could now pave the way for Birch to go out on loan and prove him self to Lee.
