A very welcome 3 points indeed. Carl Robinson made his Saddlers debut in the middle of the pitch but was unable to affect the Saddlers style of play as they began in very poor fashion.

Everyone groaned as Bazeley humped the ball forward towards the M6. Somehow the ball came down from orbit, had Chamberlain back-pedaling and rebounded off the bar to Zdrilic. The Aussie front man then chipped the ball onto the head of the unmarked Junior who planted the ball into the back of the net. 

Half Time : Saddlers 1-0 Hornets

Walsall suddenly started to rally. This time Bazeley produced a superb cross which was headed goalwards only to be cleared off the line. The game then returned back to status quo, littered with errors and laughable attacking play. Much to the amusement of me alone the team left the pitch at half time to the Jam’s rendition of “That’s Entertainment”. At least there is still some humour within the Bescot ranks. 

The second half started in much the same vain with Watford seemingly not interested in taking advantage of Walsall’s poor play. Watford's only real chance of note came mid way through the second half which resulted in Walker pulling off one of his customary breathtaking saves to deny the Hornets striker to maintain Saddlers' slender 1-0 advantage. 

As the game unfolded Robinson became more influential, he produced some telling tackles and was at least attempting to prompt the Saddlers forward switching the ball out to the flanks. Midway through the second period Carbon (a first half replacement for the injured Hay) was forced out of the game with a head injury. Carbon’s misfortune proved to be to the benefit of the Saddlers as his replacement Matias proved to be the match winner. 

With Pedro back to the left flank Walsall started to play football and finally exert pressure onto a poor Watford side. A Matias cross was perfectly executed onto the head of Zdrilic who somehow managed to divert the ball wide of the post with the goal at his mercy. 

This was followed up with another delightful cross, yet again to Zdrilic who this time headed straight to the keeper when it seemed easier to score. As the Saddlers piled the pressure onto Watford’s creaking defence the breakthrough came. A nice touch from Simpson gave the ball to Matias on the halfway line. The Spanish wing wizard then broke down the left wing, looked up and produced the most delicious cross seen at Bescot this term right onto the head of the unmarked Leitao who had no problem finishing from 6 yards. 

The remainder of the game was then comfortably played out with Bazeley and Sponsors MOTM Roper having good games at the heart of the defence. There’s only one Pedro sang the Bescot faithful as the ref blew for full time giving the Saddlers a much needed 3 points
