Hay off Duty

The uncertainty over Danny Hay's call up to the Kiwi squad for their double header with Iran was finally cleared up to ay when the tie was postponed.

Lee thought he may lose the influential center half for the Coventry and Portsmouth games towards the end of the month, but with a war in Gulf seeming almost imminent the tie has been called postponed

Robinson has 10 caps for Wales and is amongst a wealth of well known players in the squad. 

Welsh Squad: P Jones (Southampton), Crossley (Middlesbrough), Ward (Nottm For), Coyne (Grimsby), Melville (Fulham), Symons (Crystal Palace), Page (Sheff Utd), A Williams (Reading), Gabbidon (Cardiff), Barnard (Grimsby), Weston (Cardiff), Speed (Newcastle), Pembridge (Everton), Savage (Birmingham), Davies (Tottenham), M Jones (Leicester), Robinson (Portsmouth), Johnson (West Brom), Oster (Sunderland), Trollope (Northampton), Koumas (West Brom), Giggs (Man Utd), Hartson (Celtic), Blake (Wolves), Bellamy (Newcastle), Taylor (Burnley), Earnshaw (Cardiff). 

The central midfield positions are usually given to Savage, Speed or Pembridge and with the emerging talents of Jason Koumas and the flexible Simon Davies, Robinson's chances of establishing himself do look very thin. The Welsh  have a pretty good selection of Midfielders to choose from, with former Leeds United man Matthew Jones, former Sunderland player John Oster, Northampton midfielder Paul Trollope and influential Norwich City midfielder Chris Llewellyn and vying for places.

Robinson will miss the Coventry game at home, but Colin Lee would hope to have Sonner, Simpson, O'Connor and Samways all available to fill in for Robinson should need be.
