At today's division 2 play-off final Gareth Ainsworth was nowhere to be seen, and Gino Padula and Brett Angell ended up on the losing team as Cardiff beat QPR 1-0 after extra time.
According to teamtalk.com, Cardiff had a full selection of players available to them but decided not have Gareth Ainsworth in the 11 that started the game or 5 that filled the bench. This is a big surprise as Ainsworth was suspended for the semi final games and it was thought his fresh and energetic legs would be vital to Cardif winning promotion.
His exclusion is sure to start the rumours regarding his future. It was common knowledge that Ainsworth would be speaking to Colin Lee this summer if Cardiff failed to secure promotion, but the fact he was snubbed at the Millenium Stadium may mean he will be coming to Bescot anyway.
Gino Padula played 79 minutes for QPR before being substituted, whilst Brett Angell was an unused substitute. Both ended up on the losing team after Andy Campbell scored an extra time goal to secure the Cardiff victory.
