The Mail are saying that Lee could have to slash his squad by a third, after the outcome of
yesterday's meeting with the club's financiers confirmed he will have to work within a
reduced budget.
It appears he is resigned to working with a squad of just 20 players next season, nine less than this term.
The Board have, however, promised money for loan signings and this means going for quality rather than quantity this summer.
Lee is quoted as saying "The meeting went fine. We are still looking to try and finalise matters but it was a very positive
meeting. The budget figure hasn't changed but there was a lot of discussion with regards to the finances
and how we can save money and improve the overall budget .I'll have to work with a reduced squad of probably 20 players, which is compared to around 35 when I first came, but if we get ourselves into trouble then I can make loan signings which is in the budget."
Colin will now turn his attention to offering new contracts to his players and signing some new faces - which he says he will be
doing in the next two weeks. Only nine Walsall players - Walker, Bazeley,
Aranalde, Roper, Matias, Lawrence, Leitao, Wrack and Corica - are so far confirmed for next year.
Lee remains optimistic for the future. He said: "It was very favourable meeting, now hopefully we can start signing some new players."
