Left winger Hunt - a Walsall target?

The Evening Mail are reporting that Brentford winger Stephen Hunt has emerged as a target for Walsall manager Colin Lee . . . but are we favourites for his signature.

Because it has been rumoured on the Brentford fans website ‘TheBeehive’ that is about to link up with ex-Bees' manager Steve Coppell at Brighton & Hove Albion
Hunt, a 21-year-old Irish left winger with 2 Eire U-21 caps, was impressive last season when scoring 10 goals in 50 league and cup games for the Bees and his reputation has grown steadily since Brentford gave him the first-team opportunity he was denied as a trainee at Crystal Palace when managed by Steve Coppell.

Hunt's name is not alone on the list of potential targets drawn up by Lee, his assistant Mick Halsall and chief scout Bob Rickwood. But the manager has warned that although football's financial problems mean that hundreds of players are looking for work this summer, it does not mean picking up bargains will be easy.

"A lot of players have been given free transfers and there are a lot of free agents out there," Lee said.
"But the quality is not vast. Although there are plenty of players out there, there are comparatively few that might be right for us.
"We are competing in the First Division which is a high standard. I could sign players tomorrow but we have got to take our time and make sure we get play-ers who will strengthen our squad. We have got little enough money available so we can't afford to waste any."
