Colin Lee has today revealed he is close to securing the services of several new faces for next season. Lee has been working hard over the past few weeks looking through the lists of free agents on the market to determine which ones he wishes to open contract negotiations with.

It is known that central midfield is an area that Lee is looking to strengthen following the release of O'Connor and Simpson, the return of Samways to Spain and Robinson to Portsmouth. Neil Emblem has expressed his desire to join the Saddlers and Lee is a known admirer of the former Wolves player. Stephen hunt is also thought to be a target for the Lee. Hunt plays on the left wing and has refused a new contract with Brentford and may be arriving at Bescot shortly.

Other players to be linked with club are Alan Mahon and Lee Briscoe who have both been released by their clubs.

"I have been working extremely hard in recent weeks to bring new faces to the squad," Lee told the club's official website.

"We have a long list of targets that we have been working through and several of the deals are close to being completed."

"We are close to an agreement with a 23-year-old with international experience who will join us on a nine-month loan. Hopefully this deal will be closed in the next ten days or so."

"We are also looking to take a premiership player on a long-term loan, whilst discussions with a talented midfielderwith top flight experience are also at an advanced stage."

Lee has also decided not to bring in experienced cover for Jimmy Walker. Wacka is firmly established as Walsall's number 1 and Lee has admitted that it makes no sense in bringing a new goalkeeper to the club and paying him wages just for sitting on the bench all season. It is likely that a young goalkeeper will be used as cover for Walker and if a long term replacement is required due to injury then a loan signing will be made.
