Striker Rumour Surfaces

Not unexpectedly, the Portsmouth Rivals site message board is carrying a rumour that Paul Merson is about to be joined by an ex team mate.

There is a growing rumour in Portsmouth that Paul Merson may be being about to be joined by ex team mate and ex Celt, Mark Burchill.

Pompey have seen the pacy Scottish International as "no longer required on voyage" for some time and he had a successful loan period at Dundee last season without the clubs being able to agree terms.

This season he seems even further down the pecking order, with the arrival of Sheringham, despite having scored a hat-trick in a pre season game with Havant and Waterlooville. A short or long term loan does seem a possibility with a view to putting him in the shop window, although a permanent move might be too expensive for us.
