Paul Williams had signed for Stoke. It is a well known fact that the player has been a Colin Lee transfer target for some time.

Colin Lee has told the E&S

"What really angers me is that it was Paul Williams who phoned me at the end of last season to ask if he could come to Walsall,"  Star.

"I have kept a position open for him for four months since then, cleared the way with Gordon Strachan at Southampton to speak to him - only to discover that he has sneaked off behind my back and signed for Stoke.

"It's clear to me Paul Williams has used me and Walsall to get himself out of Southampton and engineer another transfer.

"I am still waiting for two promised phone calls from Paul Williams that have never materialised. I have no time for players who do not have the courtesy to let you know what they are doing."

The prospect of any new players being signed before the weekend looks very bleak, with Lee also saying....

"There's nothing on the cards on the moment, nothing's likely to happen on that front in the near future. But we do still have two or three central defensive players at our disposal."

With Williams and Stoke coming to the Bescot this weekend it is sure to add a bit of spice to the clash.
