Lee - No qualms over defenders

Colin Lee has been speaking about his defenders, and despite trying to bring another one in he insists he is still pleased with the ones he has.

"Ive got absolutely no qualms about the back three, They were brilliant at Coventry and, whoever we bring in, they will be right in my planning all season. But we have no specialist cover so if anything happens we have to take players out of other positions and it impacts on the whole team"

Lee has seen 3 defensive targets join rival clubs in recent weeks, but insists his current backline is good enough. There performances so far have been pleasing. When forced to shuffle the pack Darren Bazeley has done well in the middle, while Darren Wrack is an able deputy on either flank. We are very lucky that Danny Hay failed to find another club this summer, because with Matt Carbons "retirement" we would have been left extremely short at the back. 

Stoke have a collection of strikers capable of causing first division defences problems. Greenacre, Noel-Williams, Iwelumo and Goodfellow make up a stable of strikers that the Saddlers would kill for at this moment in time. 

Tony Pullis has been deploying a 3-4-3 system this season, and if he goes with it on Saturday Walsall's back 3 will have their hands full. We will just have to hope that none of our defenders pick up knocks or bookings this weekend.
