Defender deal imminent...

Rumours are suggesting that Paul Ritchie is due at the Bescot Stadium to complete his switch from Man City. Ritchie is a former Scottish international and has also played for Bolton, Rangers and Hearts.

There is a rumour spreading from the Steve Roy message board that Paul Ritchie has agreed to have his contract paid off at Manchester City and will be signing today for the Saddlers.

Ritchie spent the end of last season on loan at Derby County, after failing to make an impact during City's Premier League campaign. 

There have been rumours about the former Scottish International centre back for some weeks, parallel with those about Staunton and Johnson, so there may be some truth in this one.

The player, 5' 11'', and capable of playing centre back or full back, came to prominence when signed by first Rangers and then Manchester City, but has not had a happy time at either. He is a footballing defender and would be a welcome addition to the squad.
