Is the Striker Saga About to End at last?

There is a strong rumour that the striker saga will end today with the signing of an International forward. Whether this means an end at last, we wait to see.

There is a rumour on the message boards that we are about to announce the signing of Jamaican International striker Deon Burton, on a month's loan.

One of the few Premiership reserve strikers we don't seem to have been linked with in recent days, Deon is at the moment in Pompey reserves with, seemingly, little chance of a first team run out in the Premiership.

Burton knows the Division reasonably well, and also has made quite a few appearances in the top flight for Derby.

He is not the biggest, but is another blindingly fast centre forward, which does seem to fit in with what Colin Lee has been looking for.

Burton hasn't got the greatest scoring record, but is still only 26, so has time to develop further and a one month loan, if the rumours prove true, is probably worth a gamble.
