Ritchie set to leave?

Clubs are starting to take notice of star defender Paul Ritchie. His run of good form has seen him reaching the standards that earned him a spot as a Premier League player.

Paul Ritchie’s excellent performances at the heart of the defence are attracting the interest of other clubs. West Ham, The NY NJ Metro Stars (USA), Sunderland and Leicester City are all believed to be showing an interest.

Ritchie’s agent told the press…

"There are a number of clubs who are looking at him now and it remains to be seen whether Walsall will be able to offer him new terms.

"But Paul is happy and is concentrating on doing his best for Walsall."

There is no doubting Richie has the ability to play at a higher level. He has international honours and spent time at Glasgow Rangers, Man City and Bolton. How much longer we will be able to keep hold of him remains to be seen. The club have so far failed to comment on this story.

Compared to the other targets we went for in the summer, it seems we came off best by signing Ritchie. The Stoke fans aren’t to satisfied by the progress of Williams, while Staunton isn’t getting any younger while playing for the Sky Blues. Ritchie is still only 28 and has plenty of time left.
