Club owner Jeff Bonsor has announced on the official site that the club are looking to expand Bescot again and are applying for planning permission.
Jeff Bonsor has announced that the club are looking to increase the capacity of Bescot Stadium to 13,500, by building a replica of the Purple Stand at the away end. This would increase the maximum away allocation to 4,000.
They have applied for planning permission from the Council, although there are no guarantees as yet of where the funding will come from.
The Purple Stand was partially paid for from grants, but these will not be available now, as Walsall have received their full allocation. The plans for the stand do include, however, a 70 metre long illuminated advertising sign facing the motorway, so it would be an attractive commercial proposition for sponsors.
