Former Columbus Crew man targetted

Sky Sports news is reporting that the Saddlers are looking to recruit 33 year old Northern Ireland defender Mark Williams.

Williams has played over 400 league games in a long career that has seen him play for a host of football league clubs who include........

Stoke City, Wimbledon, Watford,  Chesterfield, Shrewsbury,  as well as Newtown AFC in Wales, and most recently Columbus Crew in the USA. 

Williams was with MLS Outfit Columbus Crew, but is now looking for a move back home. He went to America in the Summer after spending the end of last season in Stoke where he did not manage to earn a long term deal. 

Williams was involved in Northern Irelands Euro 2004 campaign, and is expected to play a role in the build up to World Cup 2006, where he could well line up against England.  

Columbus Crew boss Greg Andrulis has called Williams "a proven leader on the field" and expected him to feature prominently in his teams challenge for the U.S title.

There has been no official confirmation about the story and It is uncertain as the whether Williams is a free agent or if we would loan him from the Columbus Crew.
